The youth wing of the National People’s Party (NPP) on Thursday met Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma in Shillong to discuss the need of a youth policy in the state.
The youth body has introduced a series of online career counselling sessions to guide locals youths in opting for careers in different fields.
They have also initiated awareness programmes on mental health in the local dialect and English.
These programmes aim to highlight the different mental health issues that youths today face and how timely medical intervention can help them to adopt a positive and healthy way of living.
The chief minister had reviewed the draft Meghalaya Youth Policy early this year.
The Meghalaya Youth Policy seeks to create a holistic environment where the youths can harness their potential and engage in different activities ranging from sports, co-curricular activities, and entrepreneurship to skill-based development.
