Just a few days ahead of Christmas, Shillong witnessed “snowfall” after a massive hailstorm on Wednesday.
The temperature dropped to 6 degrees celsius in the city as it turned white.
As Shillong was gearing up for Christmas celebrations, the people of the hill station were greeted with a heavy hail storm.

The hail storm was reported from all over the state including from places like Nongspung, Upper Shillong, and several areas of Ri-bhoi district.
After the city was covered in “snow”, heavy traffic congestion was reported from the city.
Earlier the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the Western Himalayan region from 22 to 25 December.

With the snow, social media was flooded with pictures by the netizens showing how the entire city was turned into a wonderland.
