The first ever government engineering college of Meghalaya will become functional next year. 

This was informed by Meghalaya education minister Lahkmen Rymbui. 

“Shillong engineering college of will start functioning from the next academic session,” said Meghalaya education minister Lahkmen Rymbui. 

Rymbui said that the Meghalaya government is taking all possible measures to ensure that functioning of the college begins by next year.

“We are doing all that we can to ensure that the functioning of the college begins by next year,” Rymbui said. 

He added: “The process of sanctioning of various posts is underway and I am hopeful that if everything goes according to plan, we can start the academic session of the college next year.” 

The engineering college is being constructed in the campus of Shillong polytechnic at Mawlai. 

The Shillong engineering college will be affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
