Meghalaya reports no new COVID19 positive case in last one week

Meghalaya has reported no new COVID19 positive case in the last one week.

A total of 1,182 samples tested negative, out of 1,254 swab samples collected for COVID19 test.

Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong in his daily briefing on Monday said the outcome of 60 samples is awaited.

He informed that the health and family welfare department is maintaining a strict vigil and all the 11 active COVID19 positive patients were stable.

The deadly virus claimed one person in Meghalaya.

Informing that 24,382 individuals have been screened so far, the deputy chief minister said contact tracing of 181 primary contacts and 3147 secondary contacts has been completed, and 6,434 individuals are under home quarantine while 308 are under institutional quarantine.

The director of health services, Dr. Aman War informed that samples of the COVID19 patients will be collected again on completion of 14 days in isolation for testing to ascertain whether the patients are free from the virus.

“If such persons test negative they will be certified to be corona-free,” Dr. War said.

Tynsong said the government has decided to instruct the health department to direct the civil hospitals in Shillong, Tura and Jowai to get admitted patients suffering from other ailments.
