In its continuous endeavour to cleanse the streets of Shillong from drug menace, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team of East Khasi Hills District Superintendent of Police was successful in targeting one supply chain from Manipur.

According to East Khasi Hills DSP Claudia Lyngwa, the supply network of one Khongsai clan from Manipur was targeted on Thursday.

The ANTF team got the information that few suspected persons from Manipur had come to Shillong and they were staying at Parkash Hotel, Laitumkhrah.

Subsequently, Lyngwa said that a particular room of the hotel was raided as per provisions of NDPS Act, and two accused- Thangcha Khongsai and Kimboi Khongsai were found in possession of 12.97 grams of heroin.

They accepted the fact they had come to Shillong with a big assignment of drugs.

On the lead of Thangcha Khongsai, the ANTF team raided the house of one T Lalcha Khongsai at Madanrting area.

Nothing incriminating was found from T Lalcha’s possession, but he accepted that he was part of the distribution network of the Khongsai clan.

On further enquiry, it was found that Lalhningliana Khongsai of Nongthymmai area is also a part of this particular module.

His house was raided and police were able to recover 227.56 gms of heroin from his possession.

“Finally, the house of Projangam Khongsai of Madanrting area was raided but nothing incriminating was found in his house,” police said.

“Once the accused Thangcha Khongsai and Kimboi Khongsai reached Shillong, the drugs were taken to Paojangam Khongsai’s house where they were divided among other accused,” the police added.

Police are enquiring further to ascertain the source of the drug chain and other drug dealers in Shillong area.

A total of 240.53 grams of heroin was seized from the possession of the accused persons.

The case has been registered under section 21(b) and 29 of the NDPS Act.
