Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has summoned the first session for the constitution of the new Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
During the session, the newly-elected members will also take oath.
A notification issued by the District Council Affairs department on Saturday stated that the Meghalaya Governor has summoned the first session on April 19 for oath-taking of newly-elected members in the district council hall of the GHADC at 11 am.
The Meghalaya Governor has fixed April 21 for the election of the chairman of the GHADC.

According to the notification, the election of the GHADC chairman will be held at 11 am.
The deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills district, Ram Singh will preside over both the sessions of the Council for administering oath to the newly-elected members and to conduct the election to the office of chairman of the GHADC.
The GHADC has 29 elected members, and one member will be nominated by the Governor later.

The NPP-led Garo Hills Democratic Coalition (GHDC) has selected NPP MLA/MDC Benedict Marak as the candidate for the post of CEM, who would face an election in the House.
GNC member Nikman Marak will be the deputy CEM.
For the chairman’s post, the GHDC has chosen Rakesh A Sangma as the candidate, who would be officially elected through an election.
