Daniel Syiem well known designer from Meghalaya will showcase his collection ShaKiLum at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort this year.It will be held from 31st January to 4th February in Mumbai,
He first debuted in the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013.
The Meghalaya designer has won a number of awards, for his unique designs. His designs focus on promoting organic and ethnic material exclusive to Northeast India.
In the past, he also showcased a collection for Smriti Irani, Minister of Textiles who invited him to represent Meghalaya in the Indian Textiles Show, 2017.
Daniel Syiem, is the Creative Head and Lead Designer of the label Daniel Syiem and Rohit Jain, Chairman of RJ Foundation (a CSR initiative of CMJ Breweries).
They have come together to promote the use of organic fabrics (like Ryndia, heritage fabric hand-woven by local weavers of Meghalaya ) to preserve the hand-weaving traditions of the indigenous weaver tribes of Meghalaya especially in Ri Bhoi district.
It is an endeavour to help the handlooms and textiles sector of the State and use the natural processes that sustain eco-systems and encourages recycling and minimal wastage.
