Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma who was the Lok Sabha MP from Tura parliamentary constituency submitted his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan at 10.40 am on Tuesday.

Conrad, who took oath as Chief Minister on March 6, would take oath as MLA of South Tura and member of the 10th Meghalaya Assembly on September 5, one day before the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government completes six months in office.

In the by-elections held on August 23 to South Tura constituency and Ranikor constituency, Conrad defeated Congress candidate, Charlotte W. Momin in South Tura, while Pius Marweiñ defeated NPP candidate, Martin M Danggo in Ranikor.

The Meghalaya Chief Minister also met Union Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi.
