Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on July 18 inaugurated the state’s first-ever block-level CM CONNECT Centre at Sohiong and announced development projects exceeding Rs 140 crore aimed at strengthening infrastructure and public services across the region.
The projects span multiple sectors, including tourism, road connectivity, drinking water supply, agriculture and community infrastructure, reflecting the state government’s focus on balanced rural development.
The inauguration took place during the CM CONNECT Block Level Community Interaction Programme, an initiative designed to strengthen engagement between citizens and the government. The programme provided a platform for residents to raise local concerns, interact directly with government officials and discuss the progress of ongoing development initiatives.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of taking governance closer to the people through block-level outreach, ensuring that public grievances are addressed more effectively while accelerating the implementation of development projects.
The newly launched CM CONNECT Centre is expected to improve coordination between the administration and local communities, making government services more accessible and responsive at the grassroots level.
