Shillong: Meghalaya is set to welcome its first woman Director General of Police (DGP) as senior IPS officer Idashisha Nongrang assumes the role on Monday (Today May 20, 2024).
Nongrang expressed a mix of pride and acknowledgement of the significant responsibility upon taking on this historic appointment.

Before her DGP appointment, she served as Director General of Civil Defence & Home Guard in Meghalaya.

Nongrang’s term will last two years, beginning May 20, 2024, and concluding on May 19, 2026.
She will succeed LR Bishnoi whose term ended on May 19, 2024. However, she served as the acting DGP prior to the appointment of LR Bishnoi.
