BJP National president Amit Shah on Saturday said the party will come to power in Meghalaya in 2018 and end corrupt practices that have plagued the state.
He said since the BJP has come to power at the centre utmost importance has been given to the North Eastern states. In Meghalaya alone over RS Rs 31,000 crore has been invested of which Rs 5,300 crore have been spent only for road connectivity.
Amit Shah alleged that the Mukul Sangma-led Congress government is non-cooperative with the centre and hence the developmental initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not fructifying in Meghalaya.
Addressing a huge crowd of BJP supporters at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills, Amit Shah took a dig at the Congress government in the state and said the state lacks development in various front be it health, tourism or employment generation despite several attempts and crores of funding sanctioned by the centre.

Shah alleged the Congress government in the state is not cooperating with the centre which is keen on developing the state. Shah said it is time to elect a government in the state which will enable Prime Minister Narendra Mod to work for the wellbeing of the state. BJP will come to power and uproot corruption, he affirmed.
Shah alleged that the development of Meghalaya is marred with the corrupt practices of the Congress government and the fund sanctioned are looted while over 45 per cent youth remains unemployed, state suffers due to lack of doctors and tourism potential of the state remains untapped.
Shah pointed out that when the Union Tourism Minister had called for a meeting no officials had attended the meet.
“The funds sanctioned from the centre are looted by the Congress ruled government in the state. Over 45 percent youth in Meghalaya are unemployed,” he said.
Shah asked for an account sheet of the Rs 25,000 crore sanctioned by the centre while earlier it was only Rs 5000 crore.
Shah further mentioned that Rs 31,000 crore have been invested only for Meghalaya by the Narendra Modi-led government while Rs 5,300 crore has been spent on road connectivity.
Shah was accompanied by Union tourism minister KJ Alphons, who is also the party in-charge for the assembly election, Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli, BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh and other party leaders.
After the rally Shah inaugurated the newly constructed BJP office in Shillong and also held interactions with party workers here.
