National People’s Party (NPP), national vice president, Prestone Tynsong has said that all is well in the MDA Government of Meghalaya.

He said the minor reshuffle of portfolios of few of the Cabinet ministers effected by chief minister Conrad Sangma is an indication.

“The NPP led MDA coalition is functioning smoothly. All the coalition partners in the MDA are committed to provide political stability in the state,” Tynsong, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister in the MDA Government, was quoted as saying in reports.

Tynsong made this remarks in reply to a question on discontentment over the issue of illegal transportation of coal and the alleged failure of the then home minister James Sangma to deal with this problem.

He pointed out that Conrad’s decision to reshuffle the portfolios was taken in the best interest of the coalition government.

It may be mentioned that the chief minister had stripped James Sangma of the Home portfolio and alloted it to education minister Lahkmen Rymbui.

The decision comes in the wake of allegations on the inability of James Sangma to handle the issue of illegal coal transportation and mining effectively.
