Two Indian villagers were seriously injured after being attacked by Bangladeshi criminals at Pyrkan village near Shella in Meghalaya, close to the Indo-Bangla border.
The attack took place at around 2.30 pm on Sunday.
Sources said five suspected Bangladeshi nationals attacked the two Indian villagers with sharp weapons after coming inside the Indian territory in the area.
The injured Indian villagers have been identified as 19-year-old Denglang Diengdoh and 21-year-old Harikanto Sargari.
Diengdoh received severe injuries on his head and back with sharp cut marks while Sargari suffered minor injuries.
Both the injured were immediately rushed to the Primary Health Centre at Ichamati.

Later, Diengdoh was referred to Shillong Civil Hospital for better treatment due to the seriousness of his injury.
The fresh attack happens one month after two incidents of attack on Indian citizens by Bangladeshi criminals that took place near Muktapur.
The first attack was carried out by a group of Bangladeshi criminals along the Dawki-Nongtalang road on January 3, injuring five Indian villagers.
The second attack took place on January 3 when a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan and an Indian villager were seriously injured after Bangladeshi criminals attacked them at Amdoh village near Rongkum along the Indo-Bangla border.
Amdoh village falls under the Rongtila border outpost.
The village is located between Dawki and Muktapur, the last Indian village in the area, bordering very close to Bangladesh.
The injured Indian villager was identified as P. Bareh of Amdoh village while the injured BSF jawan was identified as Havaldar Shivshankar Dey.
