Twenty-two persons who do not have significant travel history but have ‘local risk history’ were tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur in the last 24 hours, as per official sources.

“They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities,” said COVID 19 common control room in Imphal in a press release on Tuesday night.

“All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” it stated.

According to the press release, 31 persons including 24 male, seven female, were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases at the VRDLs of the RIMS (10) and district hospitals of Thoubal (4), Churachandpur (8), Tamenglong (8) and mobile testing team Imphal West (1) in the last 24 hours.

They belong to the districts of Imphal West (5), Churachandpur (8), Thoubal (10) and Tamenglong (8).

In the past 24 hours, 56 persons were discharged from RIMS, COVID care centres of Meitram (12), Ukhrul (9), Senapati (23), Thoubal (5) and RD Wing (3) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test, it added.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur on Tuesday is 2,317.

The number of active and recovered cases are 702 and 1,615 cases respectively, it added.

The recovery rate is 69.70 perc ent.

As of Tuesday, 3,17,835 people have been screened at various entry points to the State, while 80,603 samples were tested for COVID-19, an official report said.

As per the report, 60,098 people have completed their quarantine while 3,267 were still at various quarantine centres in the State.
