Angomcha Bimol Akoijam said โ€œI would keep quiet the moment, the Prime Minister opens his mouth and the nationalist party says that Manipur is part of India and we care for the people of that state. Only then I will accept what is nationalism in our face.โ€

Amid applause and table-thumping from the opposition benches, Congress MP from Inner Manipur, Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, delivered a passionate critique of the Modi government.

“The kind of priority given to Manipur is reminiscent of a colonial mindset in a post-colonial era,” Akoijam asserted.

Akoijam criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the issue and expressed disappointment that President Droupadi Murmu did not mention Manipur in her joint address to Parliament.

“Can you negate the fact that we are talking about the inclusion of Northeast history after 75 years of Independence? Thatโ€™s a classic exclusion,” he concluded.
