Imphal: Ongoing unrest in Manipur has severely disrupted the education sector, leading to school closures, missed examinations, and widespread distress among students.
Bandhs, blockades, and incidents of violence have hindered commuting, affecting school attendance and delaying academic calendars over the past two weeks.
The Chief Minister has urged public cooperation to restore peace and initiate dialogue, warning of potential long-term human capital loss.
Bandhs, blockades, and agitations have significantly affected the academic atmosphere, causing prolonged school closures, missed examinations, and mental distress among students.
These disruptions have prevented students and staff from commuting, hampering the learning process and lowering the overall quality of education. Major disruptions have been reported in the valley districts over the past two weeks.
In this regard, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, in a statement issued from the Chief Ministerโs Secretariat, said that the ongoing unrest has disrupted the academic environment for children and created hardships for daily wage earners.
He noted that this situation is affecting the quality of education and could lead to long-term losses in human capital in the state.
โThe government alone cannot bring peace unless the public and civil society organisations support it,โ the Chief Minister said, reiterating his appeal to all stakeholders to come to the negotiating table to find a peaceful resolution to the issues.
He added that there is no alternative to dialogue and collective discussions to restore peace. The Chief Minister made these remarks in the backdrop of a series of protests and agitations following the killing of two children in bomb attacks on April 7 at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district.
The National Investigation Agency is currently handling the case.
