A Police Memorial Park and Police Museum would be constructed soon in Manipur.

This was disclosed by Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh while addressing 128th Manipur Police Raising Day function at the Parade Ground of 1st Manipur Rifles Battalion in Imphal on Saturday.

It will be a mark of respect and tribute to those police personnel who have rendered selfless sacrifice and service for the good of the State under a scheme of the Home Ministry.

Deputy chief minister Y Joykumar Singh, works minister Th Biswajit, revenue minister Karam Shyam, MLAs, top officials of the State Government attended the raising day function.

Chief minister Biren also admitted that a special women police commando unit will be established in Manipur considering contribution made by the women police personnel.

Around 100 women police personnel will be given special training in this regard.

Commenting on the issues of the State, he said the State Government believed that the Centre and its leaders would respect sentiment of the State Government.

He also expressed his desire that the different communities in the State to start thinking and working for common issues as well to bring peaceful environment in the State.

In the last two and half years, with the love and support of the people peace has prevailed in the State.

The government opens its door for any dialogue for resolving any issue in the State.

Reiterating that various welfare schemes have been introduced in the state, he said the government is committed to deliver inclusive governance and development in the state.

Highlighting the achievement of Manipur police, DGP Manipur LM Khaute while speaking on the occasion maintained that 527 militants were arrested including 102 Arms with 8908 ammunitions in past one year.

Drugs worth Rs 1336 crores were seized and 226 cases were registered under which 413 persons were arrested, he added.

The child friendly police stations have been inaugurated in various Police Stations.

In the day’s function, the chief minister also distributed commendation certificates to the best Police Station 2019 (Moreh Police Station), best Battalion 2019 (5th Bn Manipur Rifles) and best Police Officer 2019(Sub-Inspector Md Wakibuddin of Lilong Police Station).

Bhumika Shamurailatpam, who topped the matriculation examination 2019 was also awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000.

Earlier releasing a souvenir highlighting the various achievements of the Manipur Police Department in the last one year, chief minister took salute from around 15 march-past contingents of civil police (male and female), police commandos, Manipur Rifles, India Reserve Battalion, Home Guards, Village Defense Force personnel and Manipur Police Dog Squad.

He also inaugurated a blood donation camp at the banquet hall of 1st Manipur Rifles Battalion.
