Manipur: Three houses det ablaze in Jiribam in two days

Imphal: Three houses in the Jiribam district of Manipur, which borders the Cachar district of Assam, were set on fire in the past two days, according to officials.

On Tuesday around 3 AM, unidentified miscreants set ablaze the house of Seijathang Khangsai, secretary of the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) for the districts of Jiribam, Tamenglong, and Noney.

The incident occurred in Phaitol village, Jiribam district, and the house was almost completely destroyed, sources said.

On Monday early morning, suspected armed Kuki-Zo miscreants first set fire to the Police Naka-Post at Leingangpokpi in Jiribam district.

They then attacked Manipur Police and Fire Service personnel using sophisticated weapons and bombs, damaging a Fire Brigade vehicle.

Later the same day, a farmhouse belonging to A. Somorendra Singh in Lalpani, Jiribam district, was also set on fire by suspected Kuki-Zo armed militants.

Security forces retaliated to control the situation, conducting a search operation that led to the arrest of two miscreants.
