Manipur education minister Thokchom Radheshyam is worried about the academic stress on the school children.
While addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the inauguration of a school building at Kakching in Manipur, Radheshyam pointed out that the academic pressure on school children is not an optimistic thing.

“It can lead to psychological and physical problems in the young minds,” said Radheshyam.
He also stressed that the three-hour examination cannot be a deciding factor for a child’s capability.
The Manipur education minister said learning has always been independent during teaching and it is very important that teaching is made more practical so that the students could learn by seeing.

The minister inaugurated the newly-constructed main building of the Kakching Higher Secondary School, Kakching on Thursday.
According to official sources, the new school building consists of 10 rooms including 5 classrooms, each room for computer, account section, general section, principal room, and the vice principal room.
It was constructed with funding from the education department (S).
Separate toilets have also been constructed for boys and girls and staircase on both sides of the building.
During the inauguration programme, Radheshyam was accompanied by MLAs Y. Surchandra Singh of Kakching and Md Fajur Rahim of Wabagai besides education department officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Radheshyam also said, “A school is a place where the children can find solace.”
He appealed to the teachers to be compassionate towards the students.
Appreciating the officials of the education department for maintaining quality, he said it is important that the teachers and parents understand the views and approaches of the students to be able to guide them.
In his speech, Kakching MLA Surchandra highlighted the significance of the Kakching Higher Secondary School.
He said the school is one of the important educational institutions in the southern part of the state.
The school has nearly 500 students in classes from 9-12 standards.
In his speech, Wabagai MLA Md Fajur Rahim said the Kakching Higher Secondary School is one of the selected schools under the School Fagathansi Mission.
He added that the teachers, guardians and all the people of the community should work to bring improvement in the academic and curriculum activities of the school so that the number of students in the school could be increased.
