The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has stated that funerals for the 10 youths will be delayed until the post-mortem examination reports are handed over to their families.
Manipur Police maintain that the 10 individuals killed were militants involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping. They claim the militants fired indiscriminately at a police station and a CRPF camp.
The ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, which erupted in May 2023, has resulted in over 220 deaths and displaced thousands of people. The conflict primarily involves the Meitei community in the Imphal Valley and the Kuki-Zo groups in the hills.
