Imphal: At least eight individuals were detained while 145 others including women and children were verified in Manipur in the past 24 hours.
The persons were detained in cordon and search operations conducted at the vulnerable spots in the state.
The police in coordination with the central para-military forces launched operations at the villages from Santipur to Macha-ibema near the Loktak Lake under the Loktak police station on Thursday.

Altogether, 153 houses were searched and 145 individuals including women and children were verified by producing their identity cards during the operations that lasted around 4 hours on Thursday.
The police said that altogether, 109 checkpoints were installed in different hotspots of the hills and valley and eight were detained in connection with violations in different districts of the State.

Movement of 201 and 351 numbers of vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively has been ensured.
Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
The police added that the detained persons were handed over to the concerned police stations for further interrogations.
