Manipur drug arrest
During the operation, the driver of the vehicle, 54-year-old Md. Basir Khan from Kwakta Khuman Ward No. 4 in Bishnupur district, was arrested.

Imphal: The anti-narcotic task force of the Manipur Police, assisted by central security forces, arrested an alleged drug smuggler and recovered contraband drugs worth around Rs 1 crore in the regional market.

One four-wheeler and a communication device were also seized during the operation conducted in Bishnupur district, officials reported on Wednesday.

Based on intelligence inputs from multiple sources, the joint security teams were on high alert and intercepted a Maruti Swift four-wheeler bearing registration number MN-06-LX-0437 at the Nambol area under Nambol police station, Bishnupur district, on Tuesday.

During the operation, the driver of the vehicle, 54-year-old Md. Basir Khan from Kwakta Khuman Ward No. 4 in Bishnupur district, was arrested.

From his possession, 1.029 kg of brown sugar heroin was seized. In addition, one mobile phone and the four-wheeler, Maruti Swift with registration number MN-06-LX-0437, were recovered by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Police Department has launched a toll-free narcotics helpline to address complaints related to drug trafficking and smuggling in the state. The helpline, 1800-345-1934, is available 24/7 for citizens to report any drug-related activities.

Authorities have urged everyone, including government employees, to report such incidents and cooperate fully with the police promptly.
