Manipur vehicle lifter arrest
During interrogation, the youth identified himself as Md. Sabir Khan, also known as Boboi, aged 25, a resident of Lilong Turel Khul in Thoubal district.

Imphal: A vehicle lifter, who was arrested red-handed in broad daylight, was paraded in the presence of the general public at the Tribal Market area, New Lambulane, under Porompat Police Station in Manipur’s Imphal East district.

Personnel of the City Traffic Control Police, in close coordination with central forces, were rendering their daily services at the Tribal Market area when they noticed a youth behaving suspiciously while attempting to start a two-wheeler.

When the traffic control personnel questioned him about his actions, the youth did not respond and fled from the spot, leaving behind a bunch of keys that he had been using to try to start the vehicle. After a prolonged chase, the suspected vehicle lifter was apprehended.

According to the Manipur Police morning bulletin issued on Wednesday, the incident occurred on January 25, 2026.

During interrogation, the youth identified himself as Md. Sabir Khan, also known as Boboi, aged 25, a resident of Lilong Turel Khul in Thoubal district.

The police further reported that a Royal Enfield two-wheeler bearing registration number MN-01-AO-3481 was recovered from his possession.

In addition, one mobile phone with a SIM card, a bunch of keys believed to have been used in the crime, one helmet, and two electric circuits were also seized.

A case has been registered in this connection, and further legal action is underway.
