Imphal: IED blasts at an abandoned house triggered tension in Manipurโ€™s Bishnupur district on Monday, creating panic among residents in the area.

Reports said two explosions were heard between 5:40 am and 5:55 am, followed by another blast around 8:30 am, alarming residents in the area.

The explosions took place at an abandoned house in the Saitonโ€“Nganukon area under the jurisdiction of Phougakchao police station.

The locality is currently under the security cover of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The explosive devices were planted at the abandoned residence of Salam Manipur, aged 70, who is presently staying at a relief camp.

After the initial blasts, locals gathered near the site.

Later, at around 8:46 am, another explosion occurred nearly 200 metres away from the abandoned house, in which two people sustained injuries.

The injured, Soibam Sanatombi, 52, and Nongthombam Indubala, 37, were taken to Bishnupur District Hospital for treatment.

Security forces quickly reached the site after the blasts and conducted searches to ensure no more explosives were present.
