Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday informed that necessary committees of the local body representatives will be formed within April to identify the grievances of the villages for the successful launching of “Go to Village” mission from next month.

It may be noted that after successful launching of Go to Hills mission of the BJP led coalition government in the state, the government now plans to address the grievances of the villagers in the ground.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of Hill Leaders’ Day – a monthly program organized on 10th of every month to hear the grievances of the hill people at the Durbar Hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariat Tuesday, Chief Minister N Biren said the government need the love and support of the people for the success of ‘Go to the Village’ mission.

The representatives of Panchayati Raj Institution and Autonomous District Council (ADC) would be involved and consulted to identify the number of beneficiaries under various schemes, he added. The mission will be launched simultaneously in different parts of the State. He hopes that the mission would help bridging the gap between people and the government in the region.

Chief Minister said he was deeply shocked to hear that a family of disabled has been living without any support from the government till now. The government would discuss the matter of providing a government job to one of the family members in the next Cabinet meeting.

On the row over the construction of District Hospital, he said that there were some disputes regarding the allocation of land for building of District Hospital in Imphal East district. The government decided to build the hospital in the undisputed area before the sanctioned funds goes back if not utilized. The matter would be further discussed, he added.

Regarding the bandh called by All Manipur Muslim Organisation Co-Ordination Committee, he appealed the organization to refrain from playing communal politics over the eviction of houses residing illegally in various areas of the State.  No construction would be allowed in the agricultural land under the Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, he added after attending around 300 complaints in the day’s Hill Leaders day.
