Manipur on Wednesday recorded its highest single-day tally of 301 COVID-19 positive cases, taking the overall tally to 14,094.

In the past 24 hours,281 persons (150 males, 131 females)from the general population and 20 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF)were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases, informed COVID-19 common control room.

The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at 21 testing facilities in the state.

The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West(49), Imphal East (94), Ukhrul(3), Noney (2), Thoubal (57), Bishnupur(9), Kangpokpi (21), Kakching (15), Chandel(14), Churachandpur(12),  Senapati(1), and Tamenglong (4).

Seven persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without any significant travel history.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 6 persons succumbed to COVI-19, of which three expired at RIMS, one at JNIMS, one at Shija district hospital and one in Tamenglong.

The cumulative number of deaths is 103.

In the past 24 hours, 86 persons were discharged from nine COVID care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 14,094 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,076 and 10,915 respectively.

The recovery rate is 77.44 per cent.
