Manipur on Tuesday reported 237 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s overall tally of infections to 13,793, informed officials from the health department.

The state also witnessed the death of four patients, taking the state’s death tally to 97, the officials added.

Among the newly infected, 230 persons are from the general population and seven are from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

The new COVID-19 cases were confirmed at 24 testing facilities across the state.

Eight persons from the general population are returnees from other states, while the rest are locals without any significant travel history.

They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities and all the necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the past 24 hours, 122 persons were discharged from 13 COVID care facilities.

The state now has 2,867 active cases and 10,829 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the state so far.

The recovery rate of the state is 78.51 per cent.

So far, 4,04,300 persons have been screened at various entry points of the state, while 3,06,863 were tested for COVID-19 at various testing centres in the state.
