Guwahati: Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera took a dig Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for his choice of itinerary during his visit to Assam, pointing out the absence of a visit to the neighboring state of Manipur, which has been grappling with ethnic tensions since May last year.
Expressing his concerns, Khera shared a screenshot of available flights on Monday (February 5) between Guwahati and Imphal, complete with their respective prices. In a tweet directed at the PMO India, Khera remarked, “Dear PMO India, if Himanta (Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma) can arrange a chopper for you, that’s fine. Otherwise, here is a list of flights between Guwahati and Imphal tomorrow. Please let us know if we should proceed with the booking.”

Pawan Khera’s party colleague Jairam Ramesh also took a swipe at PM Modi for choosing Assam over Manipur in his itinerary. Sharing a news article about Manipur’s Chief Minister N Biren Singh meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (February 3), the Congress veteran criticized the absence of the BJP in Manipur as “a horrific injustice.”

“Nine months have passed, and there has been no meeting with the PM, who continues to maintain total silence on Manipur. The PM goes to Guwahati for a road show but cannot and will not go to Imphal. A horrific injustice by the PM on the people of Manipur,” tweeted Jairam Ramesh.
