Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid foundation stone for developmental projects worth Rs11, 600 crore in Assam.
Addressing a massive gathering at the Veterinary College Playground at Khanapara in Guwahati said that the inauguration of projects worth Rs 11,000 crore, will strengthen the connectivity of Assam, Northeast with other countries of South Asia.

“All these projects will increase connectivity of Assam and the rest of northeast with countries of Southeast Asia. They will create employment opportunities in the tourism sector, boost sporting talents and improve medical education and healthcare in the region,” PM Modi said.
Speaking at the meeting he also said, Modi said, “Our pilgrimages, our temples, our places of faith, these are not just places to visit. These are indelible signs of our civilization’s journey of thousands of years. This is a testimony to how India stood firm in the face of every crisis…”

He said that before the BJP government in Assam, there were only 6 medical colleges, whereas today there are 12 medical colleges.
“Assam is today becoming a major centre for cancer treatment in the Northeast…,” PM added.
