Manipur Governor to provide aid to renovate Sri Sri Anumahaprabhu Mandir at Nabadwip.

Imphal: In a move designed to strengthen the historical tie between Manipur and West Bengal, the state Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Friday assured to extend all possible assistance to renovate Sri Sri Anumahaprabhu Mandir complex at Nabadwip in West Bengal.

The Governor’s assistance is in line with the historical link between Manipur and West Bengal since 1797.

In 1797 Manipur king Bhagya Chandra Singh undertook a pilgrimage to Nabadwip, the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in whose name a temple, popularly known as ‘ Sri Sri Anumahaprabhu Mandir’, was built inside ‘Manipur Rajkunja’ for his devotees and other pilgrims.

Since then hundreds of pilgrims from Manipur visited Nabadwip annually.

A Raj Bhavan communique states that a team of Shri Shri Govindajee Dhup Arti Marup led by its Secretary Laipubam Ibochouba Sharma along with 6 members called on the Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Friday evening and apprised about the development works required in Sri Sri Anumahaprabhu Mandir complex at Nabadwip in West Bengal.

They informed the Governor about the importance of the pilgrim site which hundreds of pilgrims from Manipur visit there annually and the inconveniences faced by them during their visit.

They requested the Governor to extend assistance during the annual pilgrimage.

The Governor assured them to extend all possible assistance in the best interest of the pilgrims from Manipur.
