Junior external affairs minister and former Army chief V K Singh on Wednesday said in Silchar that India is fully prepared to face any challenges posed by Pakistan.

“After Hiroshima, no country has used a nuclear arsenal against any other country, for which, it is least likely that Pakistan will use one against us. But, if any step is taken or even if they think to do so, we would hit them hard. We are fully prepared for this,” Singh told reporters here.

Singh was in Silchar for a party program initiated by his central command – ‘Bharat ki maan ki baat, aap ke saath’.

On being asked as to how a JeM terrorist could so easily managed to enter and hit a CRPF convoy in Pulwama on February 14, Singh said, “I have served that area as a GOC and later as its Chief of Army Staff. We have fortified command in the of Kashmir region. Just as we plan things, the militants too think, collaterally. Just for a blink of an eye from our side, they made such move. Investigations are on for this, and we would further delve into it,” Singh said.

“We have issued a warning to Pakistan and also given names of the people who abet such crimes and venture into cross border terrorism. No steps have been taken by the Pakistan government.  Pulwama attack forced us to retaliate and break their nerve centres.”
