The Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL) is giving immediate priority to three projects – Brahmaputra Riverfront Development Project, Deepor Beel Development Project and Smart Electric Lighting of Guwahati Roads. The said projects will be carried out in a phased manner. The tender for the said projects will be floated soon.
The Brahmaputra Riverfront Development Project envisages Development of Walkway, Cycle Track and a Jogging Track from Raj Bhawan to Kamakhya Temple. Smart City Pavilions will also be built as part of the project and Viewpoint, Waterstairs, Fountain, Interactive Pond, Ramps, Stairs, Jetty, Ferry Terminals, Kiosk, Bridges over outflow structures, etc., are all included as part of the ambitious plan.
A watch tower site would be set up for the Deepor Beel Development Project. However, the Forest Department is yet to issue the clearance certificate for the same. Under the Smart Electric Lighting of Guwahati Roads Project, a total of 135 roads in the city would be covered. Earlier, it was reported that the Assam Government will install 10,000 LED street lights too under the project. The lights will be installed under Project Jyoti, which is formulated by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), and it will be implemented under Guwahati Smart City Project.
