Prof Niranjan Karak of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Tezpur University has been awarded with the prestigious Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in recognition of his contribution to the field of Chemistry.

Prof Karak has been consistently working to develop advanced polymers, nanomaterials and their nanocomposites at the Centre for Polymer Science and Technology, Dept. of Chemical Sciences, Tezpur University. Prof Karak, whose research areas are- Polymer nanocomposites, Nanomaterials, Hyper branched polymers and Smart materials is no stranger to recognition.

In 2017, Prof Karak was jointly awarded The Visitor’s award in ‘research’ category along with Dr Shyam Sundar from Banaras Hindu University. Prof Karak was recognised with Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) Bronze medal (Selected) in 2016, Ninth Polymer Foundation Award by PSMPF in 2015, Material Research Society of India (MRSI) medal award by MRSI in 2014.

He is also the recipient of 3rd National Award (one winner and one commendation) for Technology Innovation in Petrochemicals and Downstream Plastics Processing Industry by Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India, 2013 and Dr Arvind Kumar Memorial Award by Indian Council of Chemists (ICC), 2012. Prof Karak has several high quality research articles published in prestigious journals, books. Royal Society of Chemistry is the world’s leading chemistry community, advancing excellence in the Chemical Sciences.
