Two ULFA (I) rebels and a police official were reportedly killed in an encounter with security forces on Friday at Kujupathar under Bordumsa police station in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The police officer killed in the encounter has been identified Bhaskar Kalita. Kalita was posted as officer-in-charge in Bordumsa police station.  Sources said a team of CRPF cobra battalion and Bordumsa police launched a major operation against suspected ULFA (I) rebels at Bordumsa Assam-Arunachal Pradesh.

According to sources, after getting specific information about the presence of ULFA (I) rebels in the area, the CRPF cobra battalion launched operation against the rebels.

Sources said there were a total of seven cadres in the group of ULFA (I). Security personnel have cordoned off  in the area.
