The Tripura Congress on Thursday took out a protest rally in Agartala demanding fresh election Tripura West parliamentary constituency.

Congress alleged that in the Tripura West parliamentary constituency more than 2 lakh opposition voters were not allowed to cast their vote as the ruling BJP threatened them with dire consequence if came out for voting.

The Congress party expressed its disagreement over the decision of the ECI that have arranged repoll in 168 polling station it this constituency where massive malpractice was brought to the notice of the state Election Commission’s CEO as well as the ECI by both the opposition parties Congress and the Left Front.

The protest rally was led by Subal Bhowmik, Congress candidate for Tripura West Lok Sabha constituency.

The rally that started from the Congress office here and passed through the streets of Agartala as the Congress supporters raised anti-BJP slogans and demand for re-election in the seat.

They also criticized the recent incident of vandalizing the statue of Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar in Kolkata during BJP and TMC supporters skirmish in BJP national president Amit Shah’s roadshow.

Meanwhile, Tripura state Congress president Pradyot Kishore Debbarman along with the AICC team met the ECI at New Delhi.
