The Union health ministry on Wednesday asked all the Northeastern states to increase the number of Covid19 vaccine beneficiaries.

The Union health ministry gave the suggestions after almost all the northeastern states have witnessed very minimum vaccination on Wednesday.

Government statistics said Assam vaccinated 162 beneficiaries on Wednesday, Manipur 360, Meghalaya 482, Mizoram 872, Nagaland 547, and Sikkim 257.

No vaccination took place in Tripura on Wednesday.

Ever since the vaccination drive started on January 16 across India, a total of 23,28,779 beneficiaries were vaccinated through 41,599 sessions, as per the provisional report.

As many as 2,99,299 beneficiaries were vaccinated on Wednesday through 5,308 sessions held till 6 pm.

Five states including Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan registered 79% vaccination.

A total of 123 Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) have been reported till 6 pm on the 12th day of the vaccination drive.

A total of 16 persons have been hospitalized so far;

The health ministry said 0.0007% of people have recorded hospitalization against vaccinations.

“In the last 24 hours, one person who is suffering from bacterial sepsis has been hospitalized at Apollo Hospital, Chennai,” the ministry said.

A total of 9 deaths have been reported so far.

“None of these deaths have been causally linked with COVID-19 vaccination,” the ministry added.

In the last 24 hours, one person aged 23 years, a resident of Odisha has died.

The post-mortem report is awaited. No case of serious/severe AEFI/Death attributable to vaccination till date, the ministry said.
