CBI on Wednesday grilled former Tripura minister and MLA Bijita Nath for more than two hours for her alleged involvement in Rose Valley chit fund scam.

Bijita’s lawyer Harebhol Deb Nath confirmed that the CBI team had asked her various questions related to her involvement in the Rose Valley chit fund.

Though Bijita Nath avoided media in this regard, she told Northeast Now over telephone that the CBI asked her the same questions which they had asked her earlier around nine months back when she was the Social Welfare and Social Education Minister. This time the CBI had recorded her replies.

Earlier, Tripura Speaker Rebati Mohan Das said, “The CBI via letter has informed that they shall interrogate two ex-ministers, Badal Chowdhury and Bijita Nath, who are sitting MLAs. CBI has informed this to me. Immediately after getting the letter, I informed Badal Chowdhury and Bijita Nath that CBI is coming to interrogate them and they should help in the investigation.”

“They have mentioned that the interrogation is related to the Rose Valley scam. Probably during his tenure as Finance Minister Badal Chowhury had protested against few things related to this and on what ground he had protested, regarding all these I believe he will be interrogated. As far as my knowledge goes Bijita Nath was directly involved with Rose Valley and so she will be interrogated,” Das added.

Chowdhury will be interrogated on Thursday.
