Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal United [JD(U]) national president Nitish Kumar has donated an amount of Rs 1 crore to flood-hit Nagaland.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar donated the amount towards the Nagaland Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for initiating humanitarian service in areas of Nagaland severely affected by natural calamity.
After Kerala disaster, flash floods and landslides severely affected Nagaland where 12 people have died and over 3,000 have been displaced.
Nitish Kumar in his letter issued on September 29, 2018, while addressing Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, stated: “I am deeply distressed and saddened by tragic loss or lives, and large-scale damages caused by landslides and flash floods in Nagaland.”

Expressing his condolences for those who have died due to floods and landslides, Nitish Kumar also stated: “I convey heartfelt condolence to all the victims and their families on behalf of the people o Bihar.”
The JD(U) president further stated: “No one knows better than the people of Bihar about the miseries caused by natural calamities during flood.”
Informing about the contribution of Rs 1 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Bihar, Nitish Kumar added: “I am sending a small contribution of Rs 1 crore from Chief Minister Relief Fund, Bihar for relief fund, rehabilitation works in landslides and flood affected areas.”
As the the road network on Nagaland was badly damaged due to floods and landslides, the basic essential commodities are either being air-dropped or shipped on smaller vehicles in several areas in the State.
According to media reports, more than 13 per cent of the State population, comprising about 50,000 families in 530 villages, were affected by floods and landslides in Nagaland. These people remained cut-off for a month after road communications were snapped.
