The Panchayat and Rural Development (P & RD) department of the Assam government has managed to get recognition from Govt of India in implementation of PMAY-G in the state by bagging seven awards under PMAY-G.
Assam is conferred the best state award in the category of completion of PMAY-G houses amongst the Group I states (NER, Himalayan States and UTs), a statement said.

The state has also bagged best three awards in district and block level. Kamrup, Dhemaji and Goalpara have received 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in district level.
Murkongselek and Sissiborgaon in Dhemaji and Mayong in Morigaon district have received first, second and third position respectively in block level award amongst the Group I states in the category of completion of PMAY-G houses.
The award distribution ceremony will be held on September 11, 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

P & RD Minister Naba Kr Doley congratulated all the employees of the department for raising Assam as the best state in respect of completion of rural housing and expressed his delight in receiving 7 awards under PMAY-G.
Congratulating all the district and block officials who are able to get recognition in national level, minister Doley emphasised on working with more sincerity, dedication and accountability for achieving the set target in stipulated time.
He also reiterated all the officials to perform their duties as noble work for the uplift of poor rural people.
On the other hand Principal Secretary Dr J B Ekka and Commissioner, P & RD Dr P Ashok Babu too congratulated all concerned and said that it is the recognition of hard work of all the officials and asked all to extend sincere effort for the noble endeavour.
The PMAY-G scheme was launched in Assam on January 19, 2016. After receiving national recognition the officials are now become more enthusiastic towards successful and timely implementation of all RD schemes, the statement added.
