Guwahati: Tarsame Mittal, the former manager of Assamโs icon Zubeen Garg, appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday, nearly 50 days after the singerโs death.
Mittal, who managed Gargโs career for several years, is under investigation over alleged financial irregularities and the creation of a music institution in Gargโs name without his direct involvement.
Mittal began working with Garg in 2002. By 2004, he was managing events for artists in Mumbai, including Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner Devojit Saha.
He officially became Gargโs manager around 2006-07 and later moved to Mumbai in 2014 to handle artists through his company, TM Management.
In 2014, Mittal assigned Siddharth Sharma to oversee Gargโs projects, paying him Rs 12,000 monthly.
In 2021, Mittal, Garg, and Sharma jointly established Zubeen Garg Music LLP, with Mittal entitled to a share of the singerโs royalties.
The SIT is probing Gargโs death, which occurred in Singapore on September 19, 2025.
Seven people have been arrested so far, including event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Gargโs cousin and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandipan Garg, manager Siddharth Sharma, and band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta.
Mittalโs financial dealings as the singerโs former manager are being examined, with allegations of irregularities. He has also managed prominent artists like Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Amit Trivedi through TM Ventures.
The investigation is ongoing, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has assured that the complete findings related to Gargโs death will soon be submitted to the court.
