Mittal, who managed Gargโ€™s career for several years, is under investigation over alleged financial irregularities and the creation of a music institution in Gargโ€™s name without his direct involvement.

Guwahati: Tarsame Mittal, the former manager of Assamโ€™s icon Zubeen Garg, appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday, nearly 50 days after the singerโ€™s death.

Mittal, who managed Gargโ€™s career for several years, is under investigation over alleged financial irregularities and the creation of a music institution in Gargโ€™s name without his direct involvement.

Mittal began working with Garg in 2002. By 2004, he was managing events for artists in Mumbai, including Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner Devojit Saha.

He officially became Gargโ€™s manager around 2006-07 and later moved to Mumbai in 2014 to handle artists through his company, TM Management.

In 2014, Mittal assigned Siddharth Sharma to oversee Gargโ€™s projects, paying him Rs 12,000 monthly.

In 2021, Mittal, Garg, and Sharma jointly established Zubeen Garg Music LLP, with Mittal entitled to a share of the singerโ€™s royalties.

The SIT is probing Gargโ€™s death, which occurred in Singapore on September 19, 2025.

Seven people have been arrested so far, including event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Gargโ€™s cousin and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandipan Garg, manager Siddharth Sharma, and band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta.

Mittalโ€™s financial dealings as the singerโ€™s former manager are being examined, with allegations of irregularities. He has also managed prominent artists like Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Amit Trivedi through TM Ventures.

The investigation is ongoing, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has assured that the complete findings related to Gargโ€™s death will soon be submitted to the court.
