Assam finance minister and BJP leader Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to the indigenous voters of Mangaldai to vote for the candidate of BJP and its allies thinking about the future of their new generation.

Himanta said this while addressing a huge rally at the playground of Mangaldai Vidyapeeth on Monday evening as a part of the election campaign for their Mangaldoi Lok Sabha candidate Dilip Saikia.

“The future of the indigenous people of the State in 12 districts is very much threatened. So vote for us thinking about the future of the younger generation and not for the victory of BJP or Dilip Saikia,” Himanta said.

Earlier the firebrand BJP leader after landing on the Uttar Mangaldai High School playground at Chapai in a chopper at around 5 pm led a road show through the thickly populated streets of the town including Baruapara, Santipur, LNB Road, Tengabari to Karimchowk and Vidyapeeth School.

The people in large numbers were seen in different charialis, corners and in front of their house holds to greet Dr Sarma with flowers, ‘bihuwan’ etc.

Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das and the party candidate Dilip Saikia also accompanied him in this nearly five kilometre journey on foot.
