Union human resource development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will visit IIT Guwahati on Friday.
“During his visit, union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will inaugurate the Institute Estate Building and NRL-Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Materials,” said Labanu K. Konwar, assistant registrar & head of section, public relations, branding and ranking, IIT Guwahati.
Konwar further said the union HRD minister will also address a gathering at the Senate Hall, the administrative building of IIT Guwahati at 5 pm.
He will present the technology products developed at IIT Guwahati on the occasion and dedicate those to the nation.

Union minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will also address the media.
It may be mentioned that two professors of IIT Guwahati along with their team have innovated a ‘Magic Box’ which is a portable testing device to carry out multiple diagnosis.
The two professors are Prof. Dipankar Bandyopadhyay and Prof. Arun Chattopadhyay.
It is a multi-diagnostic kit to provide affordable healthcare in the rural areas.

Earlier, union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ visited IIT Guwahati in July last year and interacted with the director, deputy director, deans, associate deans and other officers of the institute.
Meanwhile, Avilash Sahoo, a PhD student in the department of Mechanical Engineering of IIT Guwahati has been conferred the NRDC – National Meritorious Invention Award of the Year 2019 for his innovation / invention – “An Underwater Vehicle”.
