Two new oxygen generation plants will become functional at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Assam’s Dibrugarh district from Wednesday.
“Each of the oxygen generation plants will produce oxygen gas equivalent to 100 numbers of jumbo cylinders,” an official of AMCH said.
The Dibrugarh has recorded 225 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, although no deaths have been reported.
The daily oxygen consumption of AMCH is equivalent to 120 to 140 jumbo cylinders will be directly supplied to patients through pipeline.

The rest of oxygen equivalent to 60 -70 jumbo cylinders will be kept on reserve in case of increase in demand at AMCH.
However, in view of the acute dearth of oxygen supply in the country, the Assam government has taken a slew of initiatives to produce oxygen in every district to meet the demand.
The AMCH authority said that the construction of the oxygen plants began in October last year under the aegies of the Centre and supervision of the state government.
The plants were completed this year.
