President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday conferred the National Teachers’ Award 2019 to some teachers of the Northeast at a function in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
The National Teacher’s Award was conferred to some selected teachers for their noble methods of teaching and they were honoured with the award on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.

The teachers from the Northeast who were conferred with the award include Satyen Kumar Roy of Nagaland, Jayanta Nath Maji of Mizoram, Mutum Tombimacha Singh of Manipur, P Rajesh of Assam, Tony Pertin of Arunachal Pradesh, Archana Barua of Assam, Anamika Debbarma of Tripura, Hannah Yonzan of Sikkim, Bakordor Wanlang Bannett of Meghalaya.
Roy has been honoured for teaching mathematics in an enjoyable way to the children for 25 years.

His teaching efforts have led to increase in the enrollment in the Mount Moriah School located in Mokokchung in Nagaland.
Majhi has been honoured for being responsible for improving the infrastructure through community participation in Government High School located at Keifang in Mizoram.
Singh has been awarded for helping underprivileged and children with special needs attain education.
Rajesh has been honoured for hosting seminars, workshops and sports activities for development of his students in addition to developing e-content for teaching of Economics at the higher secondary stage.
Pertin has been honoured for improving infrastructure and learning facilities, increasing enrollment of students in his Government Higher Secondary School located in Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh.
Barua has been honoured for making effective use of activity based learning and promoting joyful learning among her students.
Debbarma has been honoured for her initiatives Vidyalaya Chalo Abhiyan, admission fair, vocational classes, reading corner etc. and other innovative teaching methods to minimize drop outs in her school in Tripura
Yonzan has been able to increase student enrollment with her joyful teaching methods and exceptional leadership skills.
Bennett has been honoured for making use of modern teaching aids for improving learning outcomes and also for improving school infrastructure.
