LS polls: BJP releases third list, includes names for Assam and Meghalaya

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its third list of 36 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to reports.

The list shows that the party’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra will be fielding from Puri constituency and includes name of five states – Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam, Odisha and Maharashtra.

The list was announced by Union Minister JP Nadda and includes nominations of 23 candidates from for Andhra Pradesh, six for Maharashtra, five for Odisha and one each for Meghalaya and Assam.

The decision for the list was taken in Central Election Commission’s (CEC) meeting which was presided over by BJP president Amit Shah and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with union ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and other members of CEC.

The first list of the party was released on the occasion of Holi on Thursday which includes names of Prime Minister Modi, union minister Gadkari, Amit Shah, Smriti Irani and Rajnath Singh.

The Prime Minister will be contesting from Varanasi while president Shah will be fielding from Gandhinagar constituency.
