Taking the fight against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Gogoi and Changmai have been campaigning in New Delhi for last few days seeking opposition’s support against the Bill.

Gogoi said that he will meet all the non-BJP political parties who have their members in the Rajya Sabha.
“When the Parliament session starts from January 31, we will see that this bill is opposed by majority of the political parties,” said Gogoi.
He said that JDU in its national council meeting has already decided to oppose the Bill.
“In spite of the fact that they (JDU) are a partner in the present central government, they are still opposing the bill,” said Gogoi.
He also criticized Assam health and education minister Himanta Biswa Sharma accusing him of using government power to suppress the agitators who are opposing the Citizenship Bill.
“The minister should refrain from suck kind of activities or else he will face the wrath of the Assamese people,” said Gogoi.
