Guwahati based industrialist Rajesh Himatsingka has been arrested from city outskirts on charges of cheating a woman.
Police arrested Himatsingka, who is the chairman cum managing director of Himatsingka Group of Companies, from his tea estate factory at Amsoi on the outskirts of Guwahati on Sunday following an order of the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Kamrup (Metro).
Sources said the court order came under section 70 of CrPC after Draupadi Modi filed a case (No 1400c/ 2012) against Himantsinka that the industrialist cheated her to the tune of Rs 40 lakh.
The court has sent Himantsinka to14-day police custody. He was produced at the Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)’s Court after his arrest from Amasoi Tea Factory.
