The AM Television Private Limited gears up to host the mega cine award event ‘Prag Cine Awards North-East 2018’ at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Auditorium in Guwahati on May 26 and 27 next.

Around 32 regional movies across the Northeast, which were released in 2017, have been nominated for the awards in various categories.

Eminent artist Kulada Kumar Bhattacharya will be honoured with Lifetime Achievers’ Award for his life-long contributions towards the Assamese film industry at the event.

It may be mentioned that Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarikia, Jnanada Kakati, Abdul Majid, Nipan Goswami, Biju Phukan, Mridula Barua, Bishnu Khargharia, Bidya Rao and Munin Barua from the Assamese film fraternity were honoured with the Lifetime Achievers’ Award earlier.

Sound engineer Debojit Sangmai, who has been working in Bollywood, will also be honoured with Global Icon award, said a press statement.

Bollywood superstar Govinda, renowned actor Adil Hussain, actors Huma Qureshi, Ihana Dhillon, Sony Charishta and Arjumman Mughal will attend the two-day mega event as Guests of Honour.

With an aim to give support, recognition and inspiration to the Assamese film industry and to honour the eminent film personalities, who have contributed to boost the Assamese film industry, the AM Television Private Limited has been organising this mega event since 2003.  Films of other north-eastern States have been also honoured since 2015.

As per the list of nominations, for the best make up award, Shrirup Das (III Smoking Barrels), Achitabh (Shanku) Barua (Ishu) and Bhaskar Dutta (Priyar Priyo) while for the best costume designer’s award, Rimjim Deka (Calender), Rani Dutta Baruah (Ishu) and Sukalpa Das & Tanushree Baruah (III Smoking Barrels) have been nominated.

For the best art director’s award, Kalpana Bora (Calender), Phatik Baruah & Bijou Thaangjam (III Smoking Barrels), Golok Saha (Ishu) while for the best choreography award, Uday Shankar (Tumi Aahibane), Priyanka Kashyap ( Akuli Bikuli/Priyar Priyo) and Dipak Dey (Mission China) have been nominated.

Munin Barua (Priyar Priyo), Utpal Borpujari ( Ishu) and Himjyoti Talukdar (San) have been nominated for best screenplay award while the award for best singer (Male) Siddharth Hazarika (Calendar), Zubeen Garg (Mission China) and Tridip Basumatary (Rum Votka Whishky) have been nominated.

Devabrot Chaliha (III Smoking Barrels), Amrit Pritam (Village Rockstars) and Deep Dawa (Mission China) have been nominated for the award for best sound designer while for the best music director’s award, Michele Josia & Anuraag Aaikia (III Smoking Barrels), Manash Hazarika (Ojanite Mone Mone) and  Tarali Sarma (Tumi Aahibane/Calendar) have been nominated.

For the best editing award, Rima Das (Village Rockstars), Jhulan Krishna Mahanta (Calendar), A. Shreekar Prasad (Ishu) while for the best cinematography award, Rima Das (Village Rockstars), Anil B Akki (III Smoking Barrels) and Pradip Daimari & Suman Duwarah (Mission China) have been nominated.

For the best supporting actor (Female) award, Sunita Kaushik (Priyar Priyo), Moonmi Phukan (Tumi Aahibane) and Rimjim Deka (Calendar) have been nominated while  for best supporting actor (Male) Biki (Priyar Priyo), Pranjal Saikia (Priyar Priyo) and Siddharth Nipon Goswami (Mission China) while for best actor (Female) award Chandana Sarmah (Chaknoiya), Bhanita Das ( Village Rockstars) and Leishangthem Tonthoi Devi (Ishu) have been nominated.

On the other hand, Zubeen Garg (Priyar Priyo), Arun Nath (Calendar) and Dhananjay Devnath ( Chaknoiya) have been nominated for the best actor (Male) award.

Rima Das (Village Rockstars), Himjyoti Talukdar (Calendar) and Utpal Borpujari (Ishu) have been nominated for the best director’s award while ‘Ishu’, ‘Calendar’, ‘Village Rockstars’ have been nominated for the best film award.

For best debut director award, Prasant Saikia (Rum Votka Whishky), Himjyoti Talukdar (Calendar) and Naba Kumar Nath (Chaknoiya) have been nominated while for jury’s special mention award Kenny Deori Basumatary (Local Kung Fu-2), Kapil Garo (Ishu) and Basanti Das (Village Rockstars) have been nominated.

For best popular actor (Female) award, Amrita Gogoi (Soi Gaaonr Chompa), Barasha Rani Bishaya ( Tumi Aahibane) and Aradhana Buragohain (Priyar Priyo) have been nominated while for the best popular actor (Male) award Zubeen Garg (Mission China/Priyar Priyo) and Ravi Sarma (Tumi Aahibane) and Kenny Deori Basumatary ( Local Kung Fu-2) have been nominated.

For the best popular film award, ‘Mission China’, ‘Priyar Priyo’ and ‘Local Kung Fu-2’ have been nominated while for the best film other than Assamese, ‘Choloma’ (Tiwa), III Smoking Barrels (Multi-language) and Simangni Hwoa Gwdan (Bodo) have been nominated.

For the best actor (Female) – Northeast award, Rewati Chetri (Gangs of Northeast), Phelima Sumer (Iung U Slaek) and Leishangthem Tontohingambi (Tonthoi) Devi while for best actor (Male) – Northeast award, Lhakpa Lepcha (Dhokbu, The Keeper), Gokul Athokpam (Ichetampha) and Vivek Bora (Gangs of Northeast) have been nominated.

For the best director- Northeast award, Simi Khongtiang (Iung U Slaek), Dawa Tshering Lepcha (Dhokbu, The Keeper) and Rupak Gogoi (Gangs of Northeast) have been nominated while ‘Ddhokbu, The Keeper’ (Sikkim), ‘Iung U Slaek’ (Pnar, Meghalaya) and ‘Gangs of Northeast’ (Khasi) have been nominated for the best film – Northeast award.
