An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted Assam on Wednesday evening.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 17 km away from Tezpur in Sontpur district of Assam.

The earthquake occurred at 5.54 pm on Wednesday.

According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake originated at a depth of 10 kilometres.

However, there are no reports of any casualty or damage to property due to the earthquake.

The earthquake struck on latitude 26.71 degree and longitude 92.3 degree, said the NCS data.

“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.7, Occurred on 17-02-2021, 17:54:46 IST, Lat: 26.71 & Long: 92.63, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 17km WNW of Tezpur, Assam, India,” NCS tweeted.
