Dispur police draw criticism for registering a case against under bailable sections of the IPC against former Miss India finalist Rajkanya Baruah.
Eight on-duty PWD workers were injured, when Rajkanya Baruah’s speeding vehicle rammed into an Auto van at the Rukmini Nagar area in Guwahati late at night on Friday.

Rajkanya Baruah, who was allegedly drunk, rammed her vehicle into the auto van followed by the workers, who were engaged in the construction work on GS Road.
Surprisingly, the young woman, who was driving the car at high speed in a drunken state, was granted bail on the same day.
It is alleged that the accused woman managed to get bail even after committing such a ‘heinous crime’ due to ‘faulty FIR’ and the weak role of the Dispur police.

The police did not file any criminal case against the woman and except one, all the IPC sections slapped against her are bailable.
Police did not register the FIR for driving under the influence of alcohol, for causing injury to a person while driving under the influence of alcohol and for the violation of the night curfew, which is in force in Guwahati in view of the Covid-19.
The curfew is in force in Assam from 10 pm to 5 am.
The woman violated the Disaster Management Act but the police have not filed any case in this regard.
The young woman was partying in a five-star hotel in the Khanapar area in Guwahati.
Questions are arises how the party was going on in the hotel till midnight at a time when the Assam government issued strict order for the closure of all business establishment including hotels at 9 pm.
